Przyczyną powstania PAY była chęć zjednoczenia rozproszonych w różnych stanach USA, młodych (zarówno wiekiem, jak i duchem) Polaków, którzy w obcej kulturze i społeczności gubili tożsamość i marnowali swoje talenty. Ilu wśród nich było i jest nieodkrytych artystów? Porywających liderów? Ekspertów i specjalistów w wielu dziedzinach? Większość, przytłoczona zmaganiem z codziennością i brakiem wsparcia, chowała swoje pasje do przysłowiowej szuflady, marnotrawiąc talent i często swoje życie.

Moment powołania do życia organizacji zbiegł się ze śmiercią duchowego przywódcy wielu Polaków, Ojca Świętego Jana Pawła II. Dlatego Biały Marsz w Chicago - pierwsza i ogromna inicjatywa podjęta przez PAY - na zawsze odcisnął piętno na naszej działalności. Wówczas Polacy sprzymierzyli się i pokazali po raz pierwszy od wielu, wielu lat, że w tej wielkiej metropolii mają swoje miejsce i zdanie.

Wierzę, że bez względu na wyznanie i przekonania polityczne możliwe jest zjednoczenie Polaków w kraju i poza jego granicami. Nie mamy się czego wstydzić, ale walkę ze stereotypami należy prowadzić mądrze. Apel PAY mógłby zawrzeć się w jednym haśle: Polacy, wspierajmy się!

POLISH AMERICAN CONGRESS TO HONOR “THE OFFICER’S WIFE” DIRECTOR PIOTR UZAROWICZ AT OCTOBER 28 GALA IN

PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA

Pittsburgh, PA – September 20, 2011

Timothy Kuzma, President of the Polish Falcons of America and Secretary of the Polish American Congress, today announced plans for the Polish American Congress’ gala banquet and awards ceremony to be held on Friday, October 28, at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott Hotel, 777 Aten Road, Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. The banquet, hosted by the Polish Falcons of America and the Western Pennsylvania Division of the PAC, will conclude two days of meetings of the PAC’s Council of National Directors.

Acclaimed film producer and director Piotr Uzarowiczwill be honored during the banquet and will deliver the keynote address. A screening of his film, The Officer’s Wife, and a reception will immediately precede the banquet.

Polish American Congress President Frank J. Spula said the PAC’s Distinguished Service Award was being bestowed on Mr. Uzarowicz for his artistic achievements and especially for bringing the truth about the Katyn massacre to audiences world-wide. “The Katyn crime was hushed and ignored for too long,” Mr. Spula said. “With Mr. Uzarowicz’s gripping film, The Officer’s Wife, a new generation of Americans, Poles, Russians and others are learning about it in a deeply moving and historically accurate way.”

The Officer’s Wife will be screened on Friday, October 28, at 5:15 p.m. A reception during which attendees can meet Mr. Uzarowicz will immediately follow. Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. Radko Muzykant will provide music during the reception and dinner.
